Simon Nicholas
Simon Nicholas has been an educator since 2007. A magna cum laude graduate of Harvard University, Simon earned his Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania while working as a math teacher as part of the Teach for America program. Simon has tutored students all over the world in subjects ranging from SAT/ACT to GMAT/GRE, LSAT, SSAT/ISEE/SHSAT, academic math, English, and history, executive function, economics, and college essays and applications. He has also created tailored courses for students seeking independent studies and for charter schools looking to build college preparation into their curriculum. Simon founded Simon’s Class as a solo practitioner in 2022 and has since hired and trained a team of outstanding tutors who cover both standardized test preparation and nearly any academic subject through high school and into college.

Clare Monfredo
Clare Monfredo is a tutor, teacher, writer, researcher, and concert cellist based in New York where she is finishing her doctorate in musical arts at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center. Clare has nine years of tutoring experience with high school students successfully admitted to top 20 colleges, and has been a writing advisor to faculty at CUNY for two years. A tutor in SAT, ACT, ISEE/SSAT, academic math, academic English, and college essays, Clare was awarded a selective CUNY-wide Dissertation Fellowship for her writing and research. Prior to her doctoral studies, she majored in English at Yale University, was a Fulbright Scholar, and graduated cum laude from Phillips Academy Andover.

Ari Livne
Ari Livne, a cum laude graduate of Yale University, spent his college years as a tutor for Yale’s Science and Quantitative Reasoning Center, helping his peers succeed in courses such as Differential Equations, Physics, Biology, Biochemistry, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. He then shifted his focus to middle and high school subjects, and spent the ensuing years guiding students through the majority of the K-12 math and science curriculum as well as many standardized tests, including the SAT, ACT, GRE, SSAT, ISEE, SHSAT, AP and SAT Biology, SAT Math 1 & 2, AP Calculus AB and BC, AP and SAT Chemistry. In addition to private tutoring, he has also taught SAT prep classes and developed his own curricula for homeschooled students in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Biology.

Sofia Alvarado
Sofia Alvarado is a dedicated tutor passionate about guiding students toward academic success. She graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a major in Public Policy and International Affairs, complemented by minors in Latin American Studies, European Language and Studies, and Entrepreneurship. Afterwards, she worked as a consultant at McKinsey for two years. Prior to college, she graduated in the top 1% of her class from Coral Reef Senior High School in Miami. Sofia has been tutoring since college, specializing in SAT/ACT, SSAT/ISEE, academic writing, academic math through BC calculus, and college essays.

Harrison Ceruto
Harrison Ceruto is a dedicated tutor with a strong background in humanities and mathematics, offering personalized instruction in SAT, ACT, ISEE/SSAT, and advanced math subjects. Harrison graduated from Princeton University with a major in Philosophy; there, he served as a tutor and mentor for students enrolled in the intensive Humanities Sequence, helping them develop critical reading, writing, and analytical skills. Currently, Harrison is pursuing an MBA in Sports Business at the University of Oregon.

Sean Dunnsue
Sean Dunnsue is a skilled and experienced tutor with a background in psychology and education. A graduate of Hunter College High School in New York City, Sean earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, where he also minored in Asian American studies. After graduation, Sean worked as a City Year Corps Member at M.S. 206 in East Harlem, where he provided extra academic support to students across skill levels. Additionally, he has worked as a research assistant and research associate at the Partnership to End Addiction and has significant experience in research, particularly in substance use and clinical training.

Mike Mailey
Mike Mailey is a passionate science educator dedicated to helping students connect with the natural world through physics. He earned degrees in engineering and psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he also tutored and instructed students in physics, chemistry, and calculus. After college, Mike joined an alternate route teaching program in Mississippi, where he discovered his gift for making science relevant and meaningful in students' lives.
Mike currently serves as the science department chair at the Collegiate School in Richmond, VA, where he teaches physics with a focus on empowering students through curiosity and critical thinking. At home, he continues to nurture a love of learning by teaching conceptual physics to his four children.

Desi Devaul
Desi Devaul is a Master’s student at Columbia on the machine learning track. He did his undergraduate work at Princeton, graduating summa cum laude in Classics with a certificate in Computer Science. He has tutored students in Latin, Greek, calculus, pre-calculus, statistics, history, and computer science. Additionally, Desi has delivered presentations for adults on practical uses of AI.
